"Marks With Emotion"

Today we will be discussing how lines can have feeling. The lines different thicknesses, direction, and length can suggest an emotion that you would like to convey to the viewer. Diagonal lines tend to show action. Horizontal lines suggest calmness, while vertical lines can make one feel alert and order. Zigzag lines tend to be more wild and erratic. Curved lines tend to seem more flowing and relaxed.

Assignment: While a song is playing I would like for you to capture the essence of the song by drawing only lines. You want to use a variety of sizes, values, and thicknesses. Make the viewer of the drawing feel the same that listening to the music would. You are creating a visual representation of what the audio would look like. (Example: Visualizers on your computers while listening to music.)
