Blog Assignment #2 / Thursday, Sept. 16th

Monday, April 19th Assignment!

Research the female portrait artist Tamara de Lempicka and look at her artwork titled, Self Portrait, 1925. Write (post with you initials and class period) 8 complete sentences over the artwork. You may write about how the artist used the elements and principles of design in the composition, OR you may write your thoughts on the artwork and what you feel the portrait is trying to convey.

Thursday's Assignment!

Assignment: Write a paragraph with at least 6, good, complete, sentences, about this work of art. Tell me what you know and what you can infer about the work. (Remember to include your initials and class period on the post!) Once you finish the post, continue work on your self portraits and FINISH those stop motion projects if at all possible. Every stop motion project needs to be placed into my drop box by Friday!!!

Know= What do you observe (see) and are sure of within the art work?
Infer= What conclusions (or story) can you draw from your observation of the artwork?

Assignment!!!!

I am sorry that I am out today with a stomach virus with it being the end of the six weeks! I need some more grades and I have no idea who will be watching you all, or where you will be. PLEASE be on your best behavior!!!! I expect COMPLETED assignments this time!!! This assignment will be a test grade and will be due TODAY! Only absent students can make this assignment up!

Week of March 22-26

This week I need you all to finish your stop motion animation projects!! You need to "Share" them in "iMovie" by choosing "Export Using Quicktime". If you don't export it this way I cannot import them to teacher tube and post it to my blog!!!

Once you finish the claymation project... START WORK ON YOUR PORTRAIT PROJECTS!!!!

The stop motion work is due this Friday (March 26th)!
The self portrait projects are due April 5th!

Western Texas College Art Competiton

On Saturday the Ralls HS Art Dept. took 10 pieces of art to the WTC Art Contest hosted in Snyder. Four students were able to attend the contest, where they were able to participate in workshops, take a tour of the art facilities, as well as watch the theater department's performance. We had a lot of success at the competition! Trevor placed first and won $75 for his Division 2, 3-D ceramic vase project. Nick won first place and will receive $75 for his Division 1, 3-D metal sculpture. Emily won third place in Division 2, 3-D for her altered book project and will receive $30. Brittany also received an honorable mention for her 3-D, Division 2 metal sculpture project. Other students who participated included Michael, Vanessa, David, and Makinzzie. We had a great time and these kids all deserve a pat on the back for a job well done!

Creating your Stop Motion Animation Projects

Step 1: After you have finished your story board, create your characters in clay.

Step 2: Set up a backdrop and set for your characters.

Step 3: Using Photo Booth, take frame by frame photos while slightly moving your clay characters. Before the next step if you are using text in your background, go to the top bar in photo booth, click view, and select flip photo! DO THIS FOR EVERY PHOTO!!!

Step 4: Select all of your photos (hold shift key), then click on the iphoto icon to export the photo to iphoto.

Step 5: Open imovie and start a new project. Title it Stop motion and then add the number that I assign your group.

Step 6: Theme / none ; click the camera icon on the far right middle section ; click on the event with your images ; click and drag it to part marked "drag media here"

Step 7: Go to movie, preferences; Check the "display time as HH:MM:SS Frames

Step 8: Click on the first clip on the blue gear, click on clip adjustments, type 0:05 for the duration, check "apply to all stills".

Step 9: Highlight all off the clips by holding the shift key; Click on the first clips blue gear; click on "Cropping, Ken Burns, and Rotation"; click on "FIT"; click done.

Step 10: CALL ME OVER TO CHECK UP TO THIS POINT!!!

Step 11: Select "Share"; Select "Export Movie"; export size is Medium; Export to your ART FOLDER!

Work Day!

Art 3&4: Continue work on your self portrait projects. The next art contest is March 6th!

Art Metals: Begin wire / welding armature projects. Research and sketch day.

Art 1&2: Today we will continue to work on your group storyboards. You must have two developed characters, a story line, and 10 quick sketches of the story idea. All of these are due at the end of the period on Friday! Work hard!!

Also, I found my camera! Thanks for all of the help! I will be posting the VASE pictures today!!

VASE Results

Saturday we had 13 art pieces entered into the Regional Visual Art Scholastic Event held in Idalou. All of these pieces received high marks and were put on display at the contest for earning 4's. There will be photos of these works up on the blog soon!

Make sure all of your assignments are turned in today. There are several of you missing your vocabulary, face design project plans, blog posts, and even containers. It is the last day of the six weeks so come by 3:00 with those complete or come to PASS TIME anytime from 1:45-5:00!
