5th 6-Weeks Assignments

Upper Level Art Students and Seniors
5th 6-Weeks Project Assignments:

1. Complete any unfinished assignments from last six weeks!
On Friday 3/1, if these assignments are not completed, you will have the weekend to complete them with 10 points deducted from your grade. On Monday if these projects are not completed you will loose another 10 points and have zero hall assigned. On Tuesday if these projects are not completed you will loose another 10 points and have zero hall assigned. I will not take any projects after Wednesday. I have met with each of you to set personal daily goals.

2. Personal Expression Piece
This project may be any area of focus of your choosing. You may choose paint, clay, drawing, printmaking etc. This piece is intended for you to help build your portfolio and try a material that you have never worked with, or to continue to develop skills and techniques in a medium that you enjoy. The project due date will be the end of the six weeks with NO exceptions or extensions. I will make a list of project check point grades and expectations below. Should you choose to NOT come up with an assignment on your own, then you will have a specific project and guidelines given to you talored to your strengths.

3. Mural Contest Project
This project is mandatory to only Art 3, 4, and VASE students! You will be taught/review perspective drawing during of the week of 3/4. You will first create several sketches within the week of 3/18. Once you decide on a sketch you will begin an 18x14 painting using acrylics or water mixable oils on a canvas board. These are due the week of 4/8 and will be a major test grade for the six weeks. You have been asked by city memebers to create a mural proposal for a project down town. They will choose the best design and award that student or community member $100.00. They will later have it painted on an outdoor wall by an artist on Main Street across from the EDGE. The site is where the painted tires are located. The criteria for the mural is that it must keep with a "Produce Theme". They would like for it to have and outdoor / indoor market feel. They would like fresh produce (fruits & vegetables) stands to be present. The site may become a place where there is an outdoor vendor for produce and they want this as a back drop.

4. Community Service Projects
There are several opportunities around town for mural assistance. We have an in progress work at the Ralls Library downtown that I would like to havecompleted by the end of spring break. We will begin an outdoor mural at the Girl Scout Hut after Spring Break. They have provided the design to be painted on the outside of their building. I would like to have this project completed by the end of April. We also have several wood panels to paint mini murals on for the Ralls Elementary Library. (Theme Dr, Suess) I would like to have these completed before the summer break. All of these projects will be bonus grades and points for each of you. Email me at ahough@esc17.net if you are interested. I will have a time schedule and signup sheet on a board in my room for each project. It is the year of the murals!!!
