  1. I think she is trying to convey a sense of direction. She knows where she is going and how she is going to get there. She used oil paints. She also painted on canvas. The oil paints have shadow around the corners. It shows where the light is coming from. The painting shows passion in the eyes.

  2. The artist used different colors. She used cool colors at the bottom of the page. Its not real. She used good colors. And used good lighting and shadowing. She's driving a car. Looks like she drivng the car fast.

  3. I think she likes to kick back. She probably likes to ride Low. And she looks as if she is a cartoon. I like how she used the different colors in her picture. The shiny thing on the car is cool. She used the glare to where the light hit. The color gray and green goes together. She kind of looks mean.

  4. I like how she blended all the grey together. How she used different colored greys.I like the colors she used. Using different kind of shades of bluish-greenish colors. You do know she is in a car. She looks real serious. In the potrait she seems to look like she is a bad chick. Like she is trying to look all bad.

  5. I really don't know what to think about this painting. It is cool how she mad it look and the texture of the painting is good as well. I like that the old car is in it and the idea that the artist had. I like that is shows what time period the artist came from and the type of clothes that they used to wear. This painting could be showing the personality of the artist or just how women could be tough and handle the things. She looks intimidating and maybe she was trying to prove a point that women are not just housewives. Women can do any job that man can do. I really like how this painting is made and think that it would be a cool picture in the present times.

  6. l really don't like this picture it makes me feel awkward.I don't know what is going on in the picture.I like that it has that kind of old timmy look. The thing that i am confused about in this picture is what is the gray thing that is rapped around her and fills up the passenger seat. The things i do like about this picture is the shading used. They show that where the light is coming from. This picture makes this women look mean and tough because the way that she is looking at you.

  7. There is a lady in a green car. I think she is a little drunk or so tired. Because her eyes are not open all the way. And she lean on the seat like she doesn't want to get up. I like that this picture is look old. You can see by the old car and her old dress. But I can't really tell what exactly she is doing because I don't know why she has a helmet or something on her head while she is in a car. This picture is really interesting though.

  8. to me she looks like she is cold. it makes me think about a night drive. she could be going for a cruise through the city. i noticed that there is no mirror to look back. she could be running away also. it kinda makes me feel like she is escaping from something.

  9. My first thought about this work of art is that it has a very edgy side to it. The woman's eyes are almost closed and i think it makes her look almost like a dare devil. Another thing i see is how everything flows together. Her scarf is flowing almost like the wind is blowing it behind her. The colors that were used go really well together. The colors also show that the time period was set around the 20's. Another thing that gives the time period away is the car itself. I really like the idea of the picture being a little on edge, but at the same time really beautiful in its own way!

  11. is a great figure to describe the beauty and intelligence of a woman / bring the style of a true diva pastel colors are what makes it look better but the picture the blue sky and the great gray. Herms's description. for the beauty of a woman.

  12. The person in the picture looks very crowded and is not able to move very much. The values of the white stuff around her are very good. The girl looks like she is in a race because of the hat. The hat looks like a helmet. The different shades on the helmet are very good. The green car has lots of different values. The picture looks like there is light coming from one side. The values of the picture infer that the picture is at night. The picture was taken at night because the light comes from one direction and if it were taken in the day there wouldn't be as many values.

  13. The painting looks as if she is very crowded and is not able to get anywhere. She seems to have a hat on that covers her hair. There also seems to be a scarf or blanket thing around thats surrounding her. The painting looks kind of old fashion just because of the way the girl looks. She looks as if she has no emotion and doesn't really care to what's happening. Her eyes have very dark circles like if she didn't have sleep. She looks dull and bored. There's no excitement in the painting and the colors aren't too interesting either. You can tell she has blond hair because of the piece hanging out of her hat.

  14. Lempicka's artwork uses a great source of colors. The shading and details on the car make i look realistic and as if the moon or something is reflecting off of it. The portrait seems mysterious and serious. The shadowing on her face really help show the bone of her nose and where her eyes sink in. It looks as if a scarf is dangled and flying around her neck. The portrait also looks as if it was posed during the night time because the car seems darker in areas. It looks 3D helping the car, some facial features, and the car seem real. Over all i like the project because it seems very personal.

  15. In this portrait, she used lots of line values. I think that this portrays the way that females were in this time period. In the 20's women started becoming independent. Her driving by herself in the car represents the attitude of the 20's because it shows she is by herself and she doesn't look like she needs anyone else to get where she's going. Also people in the 20's people were kind of shallow and materialistic. The way that this is painted makes me feel like she is shallow and very smooth and unattached to anyone else. Also the car was a big symbol of material status in the 20's so that fact the she is in the car, seeming to own it, adds to the attitude of being materialistic, unattached and shallow. Also the expression on her face makes her seem very nonchalant.

    ReplyDelete
  16. This piece looks like its symbolizing a fierce side of her. She used a lot of different shades of several colors. This piece also looks like it symbolizes independence. I really like this piece the colors are just right like the green car and her red lips. Those colors just pop out and are very noticeable. Because the other colors in the piece are dull colors(tan). That helps the red and green stand out. i really like this piece of art She is a great Artist.

  17. more than beauty of a woman's intelligence is a good figure in the car rattles like senxualidad on her face in her gestures and security itself is the saver you're so perfect for your quiet beauty and taste is reflected in itself pastel colors are the light of the design of blue paint so warm as gray is a bladed wonderful colors in an image so expressive to convey security and beauty.

  18. This portrait shows a lot of style for like comic books. Its realistic but not extremely life like. She uses very sharp lines. Everything is very defined but at the same time looks like a mess of lines and values. I can still tell what everything is though... it's strange. I'm not sure what else to say about it. I like it. It's interesting

  19. The picture is like she claim.
She look like she going out or some thing
It look like it in the old time.
Because of the car and the glove.
and the car is old because the door handle on picture.
The hat is from the old time .
and the girl alone no one with her the car.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I like the way you have a look strong to be happy but sad
Although things have not cared about her things in his life but to use more material things to let all out for a while
I like the old car is in it and I like that shows what time the artist and his tastes in fashion of the time
This picture may be showing the artist's personality as I love this painting was made and thought it would be a fresh look at the present time.
Beautiful selection of paintings in detail the ways that anger and scarf driving at night moving a little cold
And she a bit cold in his view or sad also a shadow of that place makes you think of a painting really check for women and their styles of colorful personalities and all the shadows that actually look like just a photo not a real tasting paint so much all the paint to make people think and imagine much of it specifically to see the situation only

    ReplyDelete
  21. the painting uses cool colors to make it seem lie something is wrong and she just wants to get away and be by herself. there is a lot of shading and different values of shading she used the shading the right way all to the opposite side of where the light was coming from

    ReplyDelete
  22. she used lot of shades and diffrent colors. i like the ways she made the gloves make them look like them but then when u follow the arm u can se its a hand. i think she put her self in a car cuz she might like them and i guess she likes to go fast or she could have grown up around cars and they juast attacted to her in an emotional way.

  23. I think this portrait, is trying to convey herself as a strong or tough girl.I think she is trying to show others that she is strong like armor. I think the paint colors are very smart. The car does not look new, but instead it looks a little old.Her lips also show her feminine side.Since she is in a car i think she is showing the fact that she going somewhere in her life. The bright parts also give the painting more realistic character. It shows the sun shining on certain parts of the portrait.

  24. She appears to be in a car. She is also wearing a helmet. She is in a green car. The picture fill the page and only leaves a small dark spot. The artist uses light colors to compliment each other. I think she drew a car to represent she is always on the move. Also maybe to show the passing of time. I also like the detail in the face.

  25. well i think she's headed somewhere!
she just looks like she's ready to take a vacation or going to California, the color isn't very good! the painting is boring!!!

  26. In Tamara de Lempicka's artwork i think the reason she chose to make a self-portrait of her in a car says to me that maybe she is just driving to get away from some stuff in her life. This picture also gives me the sense of mystery that shes a very hidden person on the inside. The white cloth that she is wearing and her eyes are the reason i think she is this kind of person

    ReplyDelete
  27. she looks like she's wearing a grove. but to me it seems she drew this to show that she's a kick back kind of girl. that she has her stuff packed and is all ready to go. in this drawing or painting in her eyes it shows a bit of sorrow. or maybe a look of some wiseness. and is just waiting to live life on her own and get as far away from her parnets.
it has great value and its not something i'd paint but its atleast its beautiful and has some kind of creativity to it.

I see that there is a nice way they used the light in their panting. She may have taken the portrait like that because she is passionate about her car. She appears to be settles back. The background is black, so she may be pointing out her and her car are all there is in the world. There seems to not really be any emotion going on in the image. You cant determine weather she is driving or not. She is wearing some sort of metal helmet. You can tell her hair is blonde from a piece hanging out.

  29. The portrait has a realistic look but it has a weird cartoon look on it. Like the edges have a sharp look on it and i a fake look. Maybe the reason she named it self-portrait is because she feels like that is what people see her a fake person but with realistic characters to it. The reason she may be in a car alone is because she is on the road of life alone like she is traveling through life alone. She drew herself with no expression or having a calm look to it. The drawing is organized but at the same time it could also be messy or out of hand. The drawing has a old time look to it. It makes it more fancy looking.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I find her style to be very unique in, not only the way it is detailed but the fact that, you can see and feel the emotion that was put into her work. The colors don't really pop out at you they seem to flow more than anything, its real smooth. If you look closely at her eyes, its like as if see's telling you how relaxed and laid back she is, which I thing is how she must have felt during this whole entire time she was working on this master piece.

  31. Tamara de Lempicka- Self Portrait, 1925

To me the portrait looks like the she is driving away from her problems, like she can run away from anything, life. The portrait is dark colors so to me that tells that the mood of the picture is depressed. It looks like the emotion is coming from her eyes, no smile. She is wearing a helmet so she might be speeding away from all the bad things in life. She is setting in a car. The reason for her self portrait is maybe because of her feeling that are showing on the portrait. the color is really dark and good and the area where the light is coming from is really good.

You do know she is in a car. She looks real serious. In the potrait she seems to look like she is a bad chick. Like she is trying to look all bad I don't like it in that aspect.

  33. In my opinion I believe that her portrait shows her everyday life. I also believe that from this painting you can infer that she is very rich and only believes in high class. The portrait is done very very well and she uses contrast with the seats and the car itself. It almost seems that its cold where she is and to me the time period is in the correct time period. I also like the detail in the piece with the amount of darkness used in the seats and her jacket. The true question is where the place this is based off of because it almost seems like New York. In that favor of the piece you can find out how she lived. In final the piece is amazing with extraordinary detail.

The portrait looks calm like shes just driving around loving life.
The colors work really good together, the color of the car pops.
The painting really fills the space. When i look at it i don't just look at one thing i look at the hole picture. I think she wanted to show maybe the woman driving away from life from all her problems . Tamara de Lempicka may have painted this as kind of a symbol of escaping everyday life.

  35. In this self portrait the lady looks like she is driving away from her problems or something bad that happened. She is wearing a helmet or some sort of hood. The shadings are dark so that tells me that this portrait was set to be depressing. She looks really sad or upset because the color around her eyes and how closed they are, also because she is not smiling. The shadings of her and the car are dark so this portrait is meant to be set in the night. She is sitting in a car so she must be going somewhere. The artist that did this portrait must have symbolized the way they felt or the mood they where in. But this is a great portrait. All the shadings and values are really good.

  36. I like how she put the colors to make it go with the picture.
The painting is really good becuase how she blended the colors together.
In Lempickas portrait it is done very awesome and nice.
There is no mistake in there, i think she is a fantastic artist.
    She look confused or mad.
I like how she blended the red with the white dress.
She had made an awesome job with blending the grey.
I think she can make more nice and awesome picture

  37. In the 1920's women were typically housewives. Women did not have very many freedoms, it looks like she is escaping from something. Since she is in a car maybe she is going somewhere new. She has on a scarf and helmet, like they would have in airplanes. This makes me believe she is going on an adventure. Her face looks tired, but yet determined. I like how there are not very many colors used. Since there is a great use of shading it has many different dimensions to it.

  38. I think she's trying to show us how much she like driving. She could also like going on vacation somewhere. It seems like she rally doesn't want to stay home. She likes to go places and travel. She may like driving fast or something because she has a helmet on. She used a lot of details that she wanted us to see. She's a very good artist and seems like she likes to paint self-portraits. I really like this painting because of the colors and details that are on here.

  39. The lady in the car looks like if shes racing.she looks funny and i think shes acting bad by the way the art dude drew her.The car looks rusted green and she has some old looking poor cloths on other than that she looks almost real i like the way the shade comes in from her side of the face.Maybe racing or maybe cruising.

  40. The girl looks lost in thought. She obviously knows where she is going if she isn't paying much attention to what she is doing. She seems to be thinking about where she is going. Maybe the memories aren't very happy because she looks a little sad. She looks relaxed because I can only see one hand in the steering wheel. The setting looks real cool because the artist used cool colors. She looks as if she is a very quiet person. She looks real calm.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The art work is very creative it shows how she likes to drive. The colors are very well chosen I like the way her facial expression is very well colored. You can tell what she is feeling. The helmet is very well shaped it fits the shape of her head unlike the type of helmets you see today. I like the coloring of the car it is very well mixed with colors to make the color green. It looks like she is getting ready for a race for the gold. It is a very nice picture. This person did an awesome job creating this picture

  42. The girl in the picture looks crowded. It has you thiinking why is she wearing a helmet? The lady looks tired from the way her eyes are drawn. I like how smooth the colors are on the picture. The picture or panting doesnt have any spots not panted, it all filled. It looks like her scarf is blowing maybe she's going fast. Her wearing a helmet might be because of her going fast to protect herself. On the picture you really dont know what kind of mood she is in, she looks calm, tired, mad, And serious.

  43. in this picture she looks like she is a little tired and the car looks like its a little crowded in their too like she has alot of stuff in it. i like the way the picture looks. especially with the color green. it looks cool. The car she's driving a bugatti. the shading is pretty cool too because one minute its a light shading then it fades to a dark shading. if she made the shading a grey blend, she did a very good job on it. i also think it is also good as well.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The lady looks angry, or mysterious. The car and colors look like they are from the 20's and they never smiled in pictures back then. I looks like a younger version of her. The color choices she used were neat to set the whole mood of the painting, and it was really neat how she shaded the grey. They also wore the bright red lipstick as she is in the painting. It looks like she is wearing some sort of coat or knight suite. She had good value and color contrast, and the shading of the grey makes her jacket look textured. It is appealing to the eye and all ties in well together. Very interesting painting.

  45. The picture looks like she is in a race. She looks determined to win. She has on gloves and a helmet. I like green color it looks like the old John Deere. She also looks like she could be mad at someone. It seems like she is leaving them behind. The setting appears to be at night. The lighting and values make it seem dark outside.

    ReplyDelete
  46. she seems sort of dazed, as if she just got in her car and started driving. she look as if she's distracted by something and just wants 2 get away. i can't tell whether its day or nighttime, the lighting is kind of deceiving in the painting. the texture looks really smooth, almost plastic, like on the hood of the car the lighting shows that something is reflecting and it's shiny.

  47. The artist had meaning to he portrait. She made it look like there's nothing in the world but her and her car, from the dark background & surroundings.
The red on her lips is so dominant because it just sticks out more. She looks as is she is ready for something very serious because of the metal helmet and long scarf, the non-humorous look in her eyes gives off a serious tone as well. The car it's self looks old from the hood & door.
